More than 18 thousand calls were answered by the Samaritans in Bournemouth last year.

They also responded to 7 thousand emails.

The charity's Chief Executive is visiting the Dorset branch today to meet the new branch co-ordinator.

The charity says every helpline call taken by a trained volunteer is a potential life saved.

Branch co-director Barbara: “It would be wonderful if local businesses would consider partnering with us as one of their staff charities for either this year or in 2026.”

“Each helpline call taken by our trained volunteers was a potential life saved,” said new branch co-director Barbara, who, like colleagues, uses pseudonym first names for confidentiality reasons.
