Sailor rescued breaking-up vessel near Portland Bill
A sailors been rescued from the sea, at risk of his catamaran breaking apart.
Weymouth Lifeboat rescued the 65 year old man from his vessel at 02:45 this morning.
Weymouth Lifeboat were called 15 miles south of Portland amid gale force winds and poor sea conditions.
It was determined there was no way to tow the sailor's catamaran, which was in danger of breaking up in the sea.
Despite the conditions, the lifeboat pulled alongside the breaking up vessel and brought the man to safety.
The lifeboat left the stricken vessel behind and returned to Weymouth with the sailor, arriving at 07:20.
