Safety warning after young people set fires in Bridport
Bridport Fire Station were called out twice yesterday to fires which had been started by youngsters
Bridport firefighters were sent out twice yesterday to reports of young people setting fires.
The incidents happened on land between Plottingham playing fields and St Mary's playing field.
The fires involved deodorant cans and rubbish.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said:
"We cannot emphasise enough how dangerous this is. Setting fires can cause damage to property and the environment and cause serious injuries especially if burning deodorant cans which will explode.
"Incidents of this nature also puts a strain on our already busy service."
Bridport Fire Station are also asking parents for help.
A spokesperson said:
"If you have noticed your child coming home smelling of smoke, even if you know this to be for a legitimate reason, we would urge you to give some simple safety advise about the dangers of fires."
