Storm Arwen has hit Dorset this morning (Saturday 27 November) with fallen trees and power cables.

On the A350 Poole Road (Roundhouse Roundabout, Sturminster Marshall) there are fallen trees and power cables up to B3074 Blandford Road (Corfe Mullen Junction, Corfe Mullen).

The damage is affecting the A31 and surrounding areas, with the A31 closed both ways.

Dorset Council are urging drivers to find alternative routes.

The yellow weather warning for strong winds and cold weather remains in place for the rest of today.

Gusts of up to 50mph in Dorset is likely to cause travel disruption and damage to buildings and temporary structures.

Meanwhile, the south's emergency services say they're getting lots of calls about trees this morning because of the storm.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue are urging people to only call them if someone is trapped or if it is a dangerous situation - where a tree has fallen onto a building or power cables.
