Road closures were put in place in Blandford yesterday following the discovery of a suspected ordnance.

Dorset Police say they received a call at around 2.25pm that a suspected ordnance had been found in the area of Bryanston Street.

A cordon was put in place involving Bryanston Street, Eagle House Gardens and Park Lands to protect members of the public.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"The EOD were made aware and a team attended to assess the item.

"The item was removed and officers left the scene shortly after 6pm.

"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the cordon was in place."

Dorset Police say it's not been confirmed to them what the item was.
