Riders to take on Dorset's 'Tour de Balls' for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month
The event will start at Cerne Abbas next weekend
Dorset charity 'It's in the Bag Testicular Cancer Support' is hosting its annual 'Le Tour de Balls Trois' next weekend (30th April).
They're now calling on local people to show their support, as they kick off their huge 300-mile cycle to raise money for people going through treatment for disease.
The charity focuses on supporting men and their families who have had a diagnosis.
They want to provide awareness to self-examination and early detection with the aim of less treatment and giving men the opportunity to celebrate their survival by giving back and raising money.
The Tour De Balls will see 24 riders complete 300 miles in three days, starting from Cerne Abbas to Bristol.
Event organiser Sue Brand said:
“It reminds guys to look after their health, it’s a rare cancer but very curable. The more you check and the earlier you get your diagnosis, the less treatment you must have and the more curable it is. If you’re diagnosed early, it’s nearly 100% curable now.”
It’s in the Bag is mainly run by survivors, with support from specialist NHS staff.
Rob was diagnosed last Summer, he said:
“If people check themselves and go and see a specialist that’s how we get on top of it.”
“When someone says the C word it’s a real shock. But to be immediately handed a pack of information on local charities that are going to help me through all of this, was amazing. I want to say thank you to Sue.”
