Work's beginning today (Tuesday 3rd January) on a major revamp of the radiology department at Wimborne's Victoria Hospital.

Two x-ray rooms will be refurbished to increase capacity and improve the images that can be provided.

It's expected to take 13 weeks to complete the work on site, with a temporary x-ray facility available during that time.

In some exceptional cases, patients may be asked to take up an appointment at Poole or Swanage Hospitals instead.

The revamp's being funded by £255,000 of support from the Friends of Victoria Hospital.

Brad Rootes, Dorset HealthCare's East Dorset and Purbeck Locality Manager, said:

“I’d like to say a big thank-you to the Friends for this generous charitable donation. These improvements will make a huge difference to the radiology department and the facilities it can offer.”

Anne Salter, Friends of Victoria Hospital Chair, added:

“The Wimborne community takes great pride in its wonderful hospital and hardworking staff and continually supports the Friends with donations and legacies which, in turn, allows us to fund these major projects.

“We are absolutely delighted with the changes being made and how this will improve the service for the future.”
