Further repairs are being planned to the wall around Thomas Hardy’s house, Max Gate, in Dorchester.

The National Trust has put in a Listed Buildings Consent application to Dorset Council.

They want to work on an 11 metre section of wall on Alington Avenue, which has become cracked and leaning outwards.

If consent's given by the local authority, the organisation plans to demolish the unstable section and re-build, like for like, using existing bricks.
