Renewed appeal for info into Weymouth rape report
A woman was attacked in the Park District area on Sunday evening (18th February)
Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault in Weymouth are renewing their appeal for any information.
A woman in her 20s was found by police at around 10.40pm on Sunday evening (18th February), following a concern for welfare call.
She told officers she'd been raped by a man in an alleyway off Stanley Street, Queen Street and Derby Street between 9.15 and 9.30pm that evening.
A 61 year old local has been arrested on suspicion of rape, and bailed while enquiries continue.
There's now an appeal for anyone with further information, especially two women in particular.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Third, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said:
“We are continuing to provide support to the victim while our enquiries are ongoing.
“I would now like to specifically appeal to two women who were in The Tides Inn in King Street at around 10.15pm and spoke to a woman in distress outside the pub to please come forward, as they may have important information to help our enquiries.
“Extensive enquiries are continuing into this incident and I would ask anyone with information who has not already spoken to police to please get in touch.”
