Walk Dorset's 'Three Peak' challenge for Diverse Abilities
If you're up for climbing higher than Ben Nevis then Diverse Abilities need you
Diverse Abilities has opened registration for its Dorset 3 Peaks challenge for 2021.
On Saturday 19th June walkers taking part will trek across the Wessex Ridgeway to raise funds for Dorset's disability charity.
The challenge will see participants start at Dorchester Football Ground walking to Lewesdon Hill, Pilsdon Pen, and Bulbarrow Hill.
Walking through country lanes, trekkers will reach a height of 1530 metres, which is taller than Ben Nevis and they'll be covering a marathon of 26.2 miles across the Ridgeway.
Karen Hay, events manager at Diverse Abilities, added:
"This really is a fantastic challenge, and is also a good opportunity for corporate groups to spend some time together in the great outdoors.
"Hitting your fundraising target will make such a difference for us, £270 can provide overnight 1:1 support for a teenager at our Transitions day centre, Lawford Lodge.
"This not only gives parents a night of respite, but also helps the teens practice independence as they transition to adult services."
The charity decided to do the trek as it's outdoors, helps people with their mental health and gets people out and about and working as a team.
Karen says the groups will be walking over the hills and watching the beautiful countryside:
"We'll be stopping and taking the fantastic sights and wildlife and birds and flowers, the scenery is going to be amazing and we're really excited to put this one for people.
"We hope people will do it and feel that it's a good thing to do for not just themselves but also the charity."
The challenge is to have all 30 people finish the trek before sunset and Diverse Abilities are hoping to present trekkers with a glass of prosecco at the finish line.
Registration fee is £35 and to sign up to the event follow the link: diverseabilities.org.uk/d3p
