Crews tackle Puddletown Forest fire as Amber wildfire alert issued
Dorchester and Bere Regis fire crews are in attendance
Crews from Dorchester and Bere Regis Fire Station have been tackling a blaze in Puddletown forest.
At approximately 11:23 am an appliance from Dorchester was mobilised, along with an appliance and landrover from Bere Regis Fire Station, to reports of a large fire in the area.
A Spokesperson from DWFRS said:
"Upon our arrival, crews from Dorchester and Bere Regis found an area of approximately 20 meters by 30 meters alight and got to work putting the fire out with beaters, water fed backpacks and a hose reel jet from the Landrover.
"The Fire services Unimog was then requested to dampen down the area to avoid anything reigniting.
"We urge anyone enjoying the lovely weather to be careful and considerate as we are now at an Amber Wildfire alert."
