Outdoor pubs in Weymouth boom as restrictions ease further
The easing of restrictions means we can all head back to the pub for a drink outdoors.
That's exactly what many did along Weymouth Harbour on Monday April 12th.
The latest phase of the easing of lockdown allows pubs and restaurants to serve food and drink outdoors to groups of 6, or two households.
Greatest Hits Radio went down to the harbour to ask people how they felt about being back.
One woman said:
"It feels amazing. It's a lovely day because it's my birthday and I can actually do something. Last year I couldn't do anything except sit in my garden."
Another added:
"It feels nice, it feels strange though at the same time. It feels really weird to see other people that you're not normally allowed to see."
One couple were on holiday from the Midlands enjoying a week off. They said:
"Last time we'd have gone away was probably October-November time, maybe. So it's great to just get a bit of normality. People are saying you can't sit inside and there are things that are closed, but I think it's small steps and at least being able to sit outside of the pub at the moment is a great step, and something I'm really enjoying."
Among the people we spoke to, one group of young women had taken lateral flow coronavirus tests earlier in the day to ensure it was safe to see one another.
They said:
"We've all done lateral flow testing today. I wouldn't have come out today if I didn't know I was negative. I would never put anyone else at risk.
"We are being responsible at the same time."
