A school in Dorchester is going for a Guinness World Record today as part of Safer Internet Day 2021.

Prince of Wales School is asking its children to commit to making safe choices online to help reach the target for ‘Most pledges received for an internet safety campaign in 24 hours’.

It’s part of a worldwide effort to break the record alongside other schools.

Gary Spracklen, Headteacher at the school, said:

“It’s always fun to take part in a Guinness World Record.

“One thing a Guinness World Record does is bring people together, and at this time it’s never been more important to bring people together because we are facing this challenge together.”

This year in the UK, Safer Internet Day explores reliability online. Children will be learning about how we separate fact from fiction online.

Mr Spracklen said:

“It’s not just about the pupils, it’s about opening a conversation again with the parents to remind them about the importance of e-safety in the home.

“We can become complacent, it’s easy to do.”
