A pre-school in Weymouth had to close for two days after being targeted by thieves.

Preston Village Hall was broken into over the weekend, with toys and electrical items used by the pre-school damage and money taken.

Staff say they've been left shocked and are thanking the local community for their support.

On their Facebook Page they said:

"We thank Dorset Police for their compassion and help today, they were all amazing. We also want to thank our families for their messages of support and biscuit deliveries! Many thanks, The Pre-school Team."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"We received a report at 8.27am on Monday 27 June 2022 of a break-in to an office area at Preston Village Hall.

"The break-in was believed to have occurred between 10pm on Friday 24 June and 9am on Saturday 25 June 2022 with a quantity of cash and other items reported to have been stolen.

"Enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made."
