Call for Dorset pregnant women to get protected against COVID-19
Pregnant women in Dorset who haven't had all their covid vaccines are being urged to do so, as soon as possible

Clinicians in Dorset are asking pregnant women who have not yet completed their course of COVID-19 vaccinations to come forward and do so at the earliest opportunity.
They say you're at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 if you're pregnant. If you get COVID-19 late in your pregnancy, your baby could also be at risk.
1st and 2nd dose vaccinations along with booster jabs are available across the county for any who is eligible.
Dorset CCG say if you are pregnant or think you may be, you can get your COVID-19 vaccination which will significantly reduce your risk if you are exposed to the virus. There's no evidence the COVID-19 vaccines have any effect on your chances of becoming pregnant.
Health bosses also so there's no need to avoid getting pregnant after being vaccinated.
The vaccines you'll be offered depends on if you're pregnant and how old you are. The vaccines cannot give you or your baby COVID-19.
Jo Hartley is Associate Director of Midwifery & Neonatal Services at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
She said “I understand that mums-to-be want what is best for their baby and because of this some women may have questions before they get their COVID-19 vaccinations. There is a lot of misinformation circulating so I would urge anyone who is hesitating, to speak to their midwife or GP and get the facts that can help them make an informed decision.
“I can reassure them that the vaccinations are safe and getting them is the best way of protecting themselves and their baby from the virus.”
