Young girl taken to hospital after falling 10ft onto rocks at Portland Bill

Coastguards have rescued a young girl after she fell 10ft onto rocks at Portland Bill Lighthouse.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon.

Rescue teams from Portland an Wyke Coastguard were called out.

The girl stretchered to an ambulance and taken to Dorset County Hospital with a suspected back injury.

A spokesman for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said:

"On arrival, the young female was assessed by the team and given casualty care until South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust paramedics arrived on scene.

"Pain relief was administered and the casualty carefully placed onto the ambulance's spine board, before being recovered the short distance to the back of the awaiting ambulance."
