With the heatwave behind us, and temperatures back to the seasonal norm, organisers of this weekend's Poole Harbour Festival at Baiter Park are expecting the biggest crowds in its six-year history.

Last year more than 13,000 visitors needed no encouragement to make the most of the area's biggest and best loved family-friendly live music event and Poole Harbour Festival is ready for even more to turn out to see more than 40 acts on four stages.

The Festival opens today (Friday 29th July), and runs through until Sunday (31st July).

Families will have plenty to see and do across the Festival site, including meeting a real-life dinosaur!

Festival Director Ben Dyas said:

"Everyone's really happy the weather has cooled a little - it makes a massive difference to people when they can be sure they can enjoy the music and stay cool.

"And this weekend looks like pretty much perfect weather conditions for enjoying life music outdoors."

Headliners include 90s hitmakers Republica and K-Klass, we well as 21st century pop-rock stars Scouting For Girls and Bristol dance music fusionists Dr Meaker.

There's also a host of top DJs, including a reunion of the legendary Manor DJs, and stellar tributes to the likes of Elton John, Queen, Foo Fighters, Muse, Oasis and Meat Loaf.

It's expected to be the biggest crowd in their six year history at Poole Festival this weekend

Popular with families thanks to its carefully planned layout, high quality food and drink, and excellent facilities, there's free children's entertainment all weekend with the amazing Rent A Dinosaur, alongside Jamie Jambo, Krazy Kev (Fri, Sun), Mad 4 Animals (Sat) and Jules the Entertainer (Sat), not forgetting street performers and the popular circus skills workshops.

Ben Dyas from the Festival said:

"This summer there's a real appetite for getting and about and having fun in the sun. Now we know everything's cool with the weather and there are no worries with the extreme heat as can relax a little and do all we can to make sure everyone has a great weekend. Bring it on!"

Poole Harbour Festival opens at 5.00pm on Friday, noon on Saturday and 11.00am on Sunday, closing at 11.00pm on Friday and Saturday and 7.00pm on Sunday.
