The Friends of Castle Cove Charity want a stronger police presence after a party got out of hand.

It was claimed young drunken revellers gathered at Castle Cove on Sunday April 12.

Some were said to have urinated from the rocks, been sick, and were abusive to passers by.

It was also reported that one couple were even having sex.

Steve Elsworth, the Chair of Trustees for the Friends of Castle Cove Charity said:

"It's part of the local tradition around here that youngsters can enjoy the beach as much as other part of the community.

"So we're not pointing the finger at teenagers or youngsters in general. This is a small proportion of people who have been causing a problem, and we need to sort it out."

"We've been looking at a number of different solutions. One of them having a parents party down on the beach the next time we see teenagers just to sit their and drink tea and be there.

"As we understand it anti-social behaviour doesn't usually happen when there's a group of responsible adults nearby who could report it. In the same way the community police by having more of a presence could at least curtail this kind of behaviour.

"We are also looking into maybe having a graffiti competition, to prevent it being sprayed on the fence."
