Police officer assaulted in Weymouth

A police officer has been reportedly assaulted after attending reports of anti-social behaviour in Weymouth.

Officers were called to deal with a group of people near the town bridge yesterday.

A 53-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker - he's been released under investigation.

The rest of the group were dispersed.

A 38-year-old Weymouth man has been charged with failing to comply with a section 35 dispersal order.
