Police called after man scales abseiling tower at PGL Osmington

A concern for welfare was raised yesterday morning

Police were called to PGL Holiday Park at Osmington after concerns were raised for a man who had scaled the abseiling tower.

The incident happened yesterday morning.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.08am that a man had smashed windows at a property at PGL Holiday Park.

Officers then received a further report at 7.20am raising concern for the welfare of a man on the top of the abseiling tower.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"Officers, along with the ambulance and fire services, attended to engage with the man and bring him to safety.

"The matter concluded just before 1.30pm. He was taken to hospital to receive the appropriate care.

"The incident was not related to any activities at the holiday park and officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been liaising with park."

A spokesperson for PGL Travel said:

"Emergency services were in attendance, and the matter has now been resolved. The incident concerned an individual and did not compromise the safety of any children or guests visiting our site."
