The Marsh in Weymouth could be getting a new skate park and parkour track.

Weymouth Town Council are inviting views on the plans as part of their consultation.

The aim is to create a community space with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages all ages and abilities.

It follows the success of a similar development in Wyke Regis in 2019.

There are already plans for CCTV to be included in the scheme due to concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area.

Cllr Ryan Hope, Chair of the Services Committee and Westham East ward councillor, said:

"Weymouth Town Council & Maverick want your feedback so it’s really important that potential users and residents come forward and engage in this consultation session so that this is developed right.

"CCTV is already planned to be included as some local residents who actively supported the proposals and Friends Of The Marsh were slightly concerned about possible anti-social behaviour.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the plans develop further and for the project to be delivered for the community to use."

Designs for the bespoke facility, produced by renowned skatepark designer Maverick, have already been out to consultation online. Feedback provided by local residents has been incorporated to produce a revised set of visuals.

Weymouth Town Council are inviting local residents to come along to the Marsh (on the field to the left of the entrance to the bowls club) to see the new design and tell them your views. It is taking place on Monday 2nd August between 3pm and 6:30pm.
