Investigation launched after package thrown over fence into Portland YOI

A 28-year-old man was arrested

Police are investigating after a package containing controlled substances, tobacco and mobile phones was thrown over the perimeter fence into Portland YOI.

They've been working with Weymouth CSI, HMP Staff and regional intelligence partners.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"This type of crime has a significant impact on the stability of the prison.

"It will not be tolerated, and we ask that if members of the public see anything suspicious around the perimeter of the prisons that 999 is called immediately."

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and released under investigation.
