UPDATED: Overturned lorry blocks Dorset's A31

The road has been closed in both directions

UPDATE: Soon after 4pm, officers from Dorset Police's Traffic team posted a video of the scene, as recovery work continued.

They're hoping the site will soon be opened.

Emergency services are dealing with an overturned HGV at Stag Gate.

Three fire crews from across Dorset including, Poole, Wimborne and Blandford were called to remove the driver the lorry.

The driver has been taken to hospital after suffering head injuries that are not thought to be life threatening. A Spokesperson from DWFRS told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset: "We were called to the A31 at Stag Gate, Sturminster Marshall at 9.32am this morning after an RTC involving one heavy goods vehicle, which ended up on its side. Three crews attended, from Poole, Wimborne and Blandford, and the driver was extricated from the cab and handed into the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was at 10.08am."

Dorset Police are currently at the scene, they were called there at 9:27am this morning.

Road closures have been put place while emergency services responded to the incident.

Drivers are being warned to stay clear of the A31 in both directions as the road is closed.
