Over 4000 people 'pinged' by NHS test and trace in Dorset
The latest figures show pings have doubled in two weeks
More and more people are being asked to self-isolate in Dorset through the Test and Trace app.
A new record's been set for the number being 'pinged' by the NHS Covid app in England and Wales.
More than 689-thousand people were told to self-isolate in the week to last Wednesday - that's up by 11 percent.
Meanwhile over 4000 people have also been asked to self-isolate in Dorset.
Department for Health and Social Care data shows 4,072 people were told to self-isolate after being in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 in the week to July 21st July – the latest available data.
This was up from 915 the week before.
56,422 people checked in via the app using an NHS QR code poster.
In that week 634 logged positive test results, while 2,111 had a negative covid-19 test results.
Contact tracers ask new patients to give details for anyone they were in close contact with in the 48 hours before their symptoms started.
Isolation is recommended but not mandatory, if someone is alerted by the app, while those contacted by Test and Trace have a legal duty to self-isolate.
The app logs how much time you spend in close quarters with other people who have the app downloaded. If one of the people it logs as a high risk tests positive for coronavirus, you'll be pinged.
