Online or local Chirstmas presents? Dorset shoppers react
Will you shop local or head online for your Christmas presents this year?
Today is Small Business Saturday, traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year as the first Saturday in December.
But, will christmas shoppers take to online stores this year instead, to avoid the risk of coronavirus?
We sent our reporter George Sharpe out in to Dorchester to find out. He took a board with him to gauge where people would go.
Here's what they said:
"I'd say I'd definitely do it online because of the convenience, you haven't got to go out in public, generally it's easier to find deals.
"At the moment with the coronavirus, having to interact with other people is obviously quite worrying."
Another said:
"Not very much online, mostly local. I don't like it online because if you get something, you can't see it, you can't touch and if it's not right you've got the hassle of sending it back
"Unless you absolutely know that's what you want, I wouldn't shop online."
Another said:
"A bit of both, but I think more local. I think Christmas is a one off."
But, more people in town voted that they'd shop locally, though those people were already in town so it's hard to tell if it's a fair representation.
