No Punch and Judy on Weymouth beach this summer

The performer behind it says the decision 'was not taken lightly'

The traditional Punch and Judy shows on Weymouth beach won't be happening through the summer season this year.

Mark Poulton, the performer behind the shows, has posted on social media to share the news.

He says a long term back and hip injury means it's been difficult for him to put on show without additional help, which he doesn't have available this summer.

In his Facebook post, Mark says he's keen to return as soon as possible:

"I really had hoped I’d be well enough to work the summer season but it really would be too much. I’ve been updating the council who have been very supportive. I hope you all understand and continue to support the show.

"I will miss being at Weymouth and entertaining you all this summer but the show WILL return for Easter 2023."
