No further police action over reported assault on Weymouth Beach

Officers say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident

A man arrested in connection with an alleged assault and sexual assault on Weymouth beach will face no further police action.

It was reported that at around 5pm on Tuesday 1 June 2021 a man approached a group of teenagers on the beach and made inappropriate comments toward them. It was alleged that he also threw a rock at the group, grabbed and pushed a teenage boy and kissed another one of the boys on the neck while apologising.

A 42-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of assault and sexual assault and was released under investigation.

Dorset Police have now issued a statement. They say

"Following further enquiries by officers, he has now been released from under investigation and will face no further police action. The teenage boys involved have been updated.

"Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
