New retail park approved for Weymouth Gateway
The site could create hundreds of jobs
A new retail park’s been approved for the Weymouth Gateway site.
The plans could bring new McDonalds and Costa Coffee drive-thru services to the area.
It’ll also create up to 237 permanent jobs at the site, as well as parking space for 346 cars, and 32 electric car charging points.
Councillors voted in favour of the development by a count of 11 to 1.
Other brands proposed for the site off Mercery Road include Dunelm and B&M homestores.
But the proposals go against the local development plan and will need to be signed off by the secretary of state, Robert Jenrick.
