A new dance and theatre competition is coming to Dorchester and is set to launch in February 2022.
The Dorset County Dance Festival will be an annual event running under the umbrella of the British and International Federation of Festivals.
It will take place in the half term holiday and will be offering children and young people the chance to celebrate their love of performing in a range of different styles, both competitively and non-competitively.
Organiser is Emilie Hardy said:
"The word festival means a time of celebration and Dorset county Dance Festival is set to be a collaborative celebration of our achievement and skill of our next generation of young performers.
"Festivals offer a huge and diverse range of styles from traditional folk dance and classical ballet right through to tap, street dance, contemporary and musical theatre."
Inclusivity has been very important to the organisers throughout the creation process of the festival meaning this event will be very much about the community and entertaining the community.
WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Schools can expect options for all ages and dance genres to enter. Such as solos, duets, trios and quartets.
Something Dorset County Dance Festival want to include is a non-competitive group section for those who are either new to performing, or simply want the chance to enjoy being on the stage.
"So, whether you are an experienced competitive school, or a recreational performance group, everybody with the shared passion for dance and theatre will be enormously welcome.
"We hope this event will bring everyone something fun and exciting to look forward to, and a chance for schools, teachers, students and families to unite and enjoy the skills of our local young people."
