More cases of Covid-19 are appearing in schools in Dorset.

Wey Valley Academy in Weymouth, The Purbeck School in Wareham and Gillingham School are the latest to be placed on the list.

Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Councils said:

“We are aware of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at The Wey Valley Academy in Weymouth. The school is working closely with Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Public Health England South West to ensure that all necessary measures are being met.

“All close contacts of the confirmed case have been notified and advised to self-isolate for 14-days. Contacts of the confirmed case should get tested if they go on to develop symptoms. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 14-days.”

Holy Trinity and Radipole Primary in Weymouth and St George's on Portland have already confirmed this week they have Coronavirus cases.

All the schools remain open and any close contacts have been told to self-isolate.

Dorset remains on a medium alert level, but we're warned to follow the current restrictions to avoid a local lockdown.
