A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a collision with a car near Beaminster

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after a crash near Beaminster.

Dorset Police say the collision happened at around 12.55pm yesterday (Monday 30 August) on the A3066 Bridport Road.

An orange Kawasaki motorcycle and an orange and black Renault Captur were involved.

Officers attended the scene, alongside the ambulance and fire service.

Injuries

The rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 30s and from Somerset, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment. His condition is serious, but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Renault and his wife, who are both local and aged in their 70s, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed between Townsend Way and near to The Mount. It was reopened at 4.30pm.

Police appeal

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along Bridport Road at the time of the collision and either witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please come forward.

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle please checks their footage for anything of relevance.”
