A motorcyclist has been jailed, and given a ban from the roads, for riding whilst disqualified and over the drink drive limit.

A 20 year old man from Bridport was stopped on Friday 7th June, after reports of a biker leaving the Trumpet Major pub in Dorchester while intoxicated.

He blew over the limit in a roadside breath test on Trinity Street and arrested.

A further sample custody took a reading of 60 micrograms of alcohol in his system, while the legal limit is 35.

The motorcyclist was charged with drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without valid insurance.

He's been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison and a two year ban by Poole Magistrates.

Sergeant Anneka Stone, of Dorchester police, said:

“We are fully aware of the dangers people riding or driving whilst under the influence pose to other road users and members of the public.

“In this case we responded quickly to identify the motorcyclist who was driving while under the influence and when he was already banned, and he was swiftly brought before the court to face the consequences of his actions.

“We will continue to respond to reports of this nature and ensure those who flout the laws of our roads are held to account.”
