Motorbike rider with life-threatening injuries after crash with car in Winton

Emergency services responded to the crash in Wimborne Road yesterday afternoon

A motorbike rider has suffered life-threatening injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Bournemouth.

A report was received at 1.18pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 March) of a collision involving a red Vauxhall Mokka and a red Triumph motorbike on Wimborne Road in Winton.

The rider of the motorbike – a man aged in his 60s from Bournemouth – was taken to hospital for treatment with life-threatening injuries. His family has been informed.

The driver of the car did not sustain any serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place while emergency services safely dealt with the incident and carried out an examination of the scene.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “An investigation is underway into the collision and I am really keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

“Also, if you were driving along Winton High Street at the time of the collision and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage please get in touch.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
