Motorbike rider failed to stop after serious crash in Portesham

A man in his 20's was taken to hospital with serious injuries

A motorcyclist is being urged to come forward after another rider was seriously injured in a crash near Weymouth.

Dorset Police was called at 11.32am on Sunday (14 August) to reports of a collision on the B3157 at Goose Hill involving two motorcycles that were travelling westbound toward Abbotsbury.

It is reported that the rider of one of the motorcycles failed to stop at the scene and an investigation is underway to identify and locate them.

The rider of the other motorcycle, a man aged in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not described as life-changing or life-threatening.

The road was blocked while emergency services dealt with the incident. It reopened at 2.04pm.

Police Constable Gavin Newbury, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision or captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would urge the second motorcyclist involved in this incident to please make contact with us so we can establish what happened.”
