Motorbike rider in his 70's seriously injured in Christchurch crash

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after a crash last night in Christchurch.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.34pm last night (10 October) of a single vehicle collision on Stanpit, near to the junction with Victoria Road, involving a red and black Triumph Rocket motorcycle.

Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist – a man aged in his 70s – was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believe to be serious.

Road closures were put in place as police and the ambulance service responded to the incident.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We continue to investigate this collision to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would urge any witnesses to the collision itself, or the manner of driving of the motorcycle involved prior to it, to please contact us. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
