A man's due in court today (Thursday 11th August) charged in connection with a suspected cannabis factory in West Dorset.

Officers visited an address in Mosterton, near Beaminster, on June 21st, and found around 50 plants thought to be cannabis, cash and a small amount of a suspected Class A drug in an outbuilding.

52 year old Jason Richard Seward was arrested at the time, and has now been issued with a postal requisition to appear before Weymouth Magistrates later.

He'll be charged with being concerned in the production of a Class B drug and possession of a Class A drug.

Speaking when the arrest was made, Sergeant Mike Brown, of West Dorset police, said:

“Officers responded promptly to the information received, taking positive action with a search of the property that revealed a suspected large scale cannabis cultivation operation.

“We recognise the impact reported drug related activity has on local communities and we continue to urge anyone with information or concerns to contact us so we can take appropriate action.”
