Series of metal thefts reported in West Dorset in one night

Three metal thefts reported in West Dorset over one night are being linked by police - with three people arrested.

Dorset Police tell us incidents happened in the Preston area of Weymouth; and on London Road and Coburg Road in Dorchester; last Thursday (19th October).

All the incidents are believed to have had the same vehicle involved.

Officers stopped a vehicle on the A35 in Dorchester shortly afterwards - arresting a 16 year old boy and two men aged 19 and 29, all from Gravesend in Kent, on suspicion of theft.

Sergeant Matthew Love, of West Dorset police, said:

“An investigation is underway and I am keen to speak to anyone with information that may assist my enquiries.

“If you saw a white van acting suspiciously in any of the areas mentioned on Thursday 19 October 2023, please contact Dorset Police.

“Finally, I would encourage anyone who suspects that metal may have been taken from their property recently to please get in touch.”
