Singer and songwriter Marty Wilde has told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset it's good to be back out on the road after lockdown.

The 81-year-old who first shot to fame in the 50's with his hit single 'Teenager In Love' brings his tour to Weymouth Pavilion this Sunday. 13 March

Marty who has an MBE to his name is also one of very few artists to have had chart success across 8 decades.

Marty is the father of Kim Wilde and wrote hit songs for Kim including 'Kids in America'.

He says it's a blessing to be back.

"Its a joy and privilege at my time of life to be able to do it and a privilege to be wanted again and to go out and meet people."

"Live performance is essential to me. I wouldn't like to just make records all the time. Live performance has been some of the biggest highlights of my life with some of the places I have played."

Marty's daughter Kim Wilde is also touring again, and he says she very much takes after her Dad.

"Sadly for Kim with Covid, like all of us, all our gigs were cancelled. Work that had been planned for months was just pushed aside. Thankfully they are all back and she'll be going out on the road. She's just like her dad. We are always out on the road somewhere."

You can see Marty Wilde and the Wildcats at Weymouth Pavilion this Sunday 13 March, 2022.
