Man's ear bitten off during assault in Weymouth
The victim was also hit with a metal pole
A man's had part of his ear bitten off during an alleged assault in Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at around 11.45am yesterday morning (11 May) of an assault involving two men on Beverley Road.
It is reported that the victim – a man aged in his 20s from Weymouth – was attacked with a metal pole and part of his ear was bitten away.
The victim was taken to hospital.
Arrest
Officers attended and a 42-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested at the scene. He has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today (12 May).
Police appeal
Detective Constable David Barnes, of Weymouth CID, said:
“Our enquiries are continuing into this incident and I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to please get in touch.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant footage from either a mobile phone, dashcam or home CCTV system that may assist my investigation.”
