A man has been treated for breathing in smoke after a house fire in Dorset.

Crews were called to Allenview Road in Wimborne at around 12.37am yesterday morning. (15 May)

The fire involved a bedroom and spread to the roof of the property.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said:

"Fire engines from Wimborne, Poole and Redhill Park Fire Stations attended. The fire involved a bedroom and was well alight by arrival. The initial two crews requested assistance from a further two crews. The ambulance was also requested for a male suffering smoke inhalation.

"The bedroom fire spread to the roof space and was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a thermal imaging camera checking for hotspots and positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke."
