Police have issued a safety warning after a man was seen chasing cattle in a field near Crossways.

Officers are calling it an "extremely dangerous act", especially as the field contained bulls, cows and their young calves.

They fear he could have been trampled.

It's reported that the man entered the field near Crossways Village Hall last night at around 7.30pm.

He was watched by another male.

PCSO Donnison said:

"This is an extremely dangerous act at anytime but especially when there are young calves with their parents.

"The person was at great risk of being trampled by the cows, which could have resulted in serious or even fatal injuries.

"The field does not have public access and therefore the male was also trespassing."

PCSO Donnison would like to identify the males so that there is not a repeat of this.

"Irresponsible behaviour like this could cause serious or fatal injury to the cattle, if they were scared. They could have ran through fences and got out onto the road with potential for injury to themselves or other road users."
