A man's been rescued after getting stuck on rocks below the cliffs at Portland Bill, after getting cut of by the tide.

Weymouth All-weather lifeboat 'Ernest and Mabel' was launched yesterday afternoon. (15 September)

The crew used the lifeboat's dingy to get to the casualty.

Spokesperson for Weymouth Lifeboat, Ken Francis said:

"On arrival the volunteer lifeboat crew launched the Y boat (a small rubber dingy that is carried on the lifeboat) to enable them to get in close to the rocks where the man was stuck.

He was transferred onto the lifeboat and taken back to Weymouth lifeboat station where he was handed over to an ambulance crew."
