A major operation was launched yesterday (3 May) after a man became stranded on the rocks at Nothe Fort in Weymouth.

Weymouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched.

The man was rescued and taken to hospital to be checked over.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"The male became stuck within the rocks behind The Nothe Fort and quickly became cold and tired and was unable to bring himself back to safety.

"Teamwork between Agencies led to his recovery and was taken to Hospital for a check up. Thanks to all agencies working together to avoid what could have been a tragic accident."
