Man rescued from sea by fishermen at Portland Bill
The coastguard helicopter and Weymouth Lifeboat were sent to the scene yesterday afternoon
A man has been rescued by a group of fishermen after getting into difficulties in the water off Portland Bill.
Rescue teams along with the coastguard helicopter and Weymouth Lifeboat were dispatched yesterday afternoon.
When they arrived, the man had already been pulled from the water.
A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said:
"The Team were tasked by Solent Coastguard along with Wyke Coastguard CRT, Rescue 175 and Weymouth Lifeboat ILB, to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Paramedics, to a report of a Male who had got into difficulties while in the water at Portland Bill.
"On arrival the casualty had already been recovered to the shore by a group of fisherman. He was taken into the care of SWAST Paramedics before being transferred to DCH for further assessment. With no further persons being reported to be in danger."
