Man left with head injuries after group attack in Weymouth

It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Weymouth's town centre

A group of up to 25 people attacked a man in his 20's and a friend in Weymouth, in what police are calling an unprovoked assault.

The victims were walking with a friend in Maiden Street – near to the junction with Market Street – at around 1.30am on Sunday 22nd August 2021 when they were approached by a group of people.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his head.

The group involved were described as around 15 men and five to 10 women, all believed to be aged in their early 20s and white. Some of the men were wearing gilets.

Police Constable Sandra Rigby, of Weymouth police, said: “This was a very frightening ordeal for the victim and we are carrying out a full investigation to identify those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the assault, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us.”
