A man's been jailed for drug offences, handling stolen goods and shoplifting - following a proactive vehicle stop by police in Bournemouth.

3\5 year old David Crofts, of no fixed abode, has been handed a three year and one month sentence by the town's Crown Court.

He stole several crates of beer from the One Stop store in Southbourne Grove, twice in the same night in November last year, with the incident captured on CCTV.

Two weeks later, on December 7th, police in an unmarked car stopped a vehicle in Southcote Road.

Crofts was in the car and was found during a search to be in possession of several cocaine wraps, as well as measuring scales, cash and a mobile phone.

That included evidence showing he'd been arranging and facilitating drugs sales.

Bottles of alcohol, with the security tags still attached, were also found within the vehicle.

Crofts was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, handling stolen goods and theft by shoplifting.

Sergeant Ashley White, of Bournemouth police, said: “We fully recognise the unfavourable impact Croft’s offending has had not only the local businesses he stole items from, but also his harmful involvement in the dealing of illegal drugs.

“Through our investigation, we were able to bring Crofts before the courts to be held fully accountable for his actions.

“I would like to reassure the public that we will continue to relentlessly pursue and disrupt the operations of those who supply illegal drugs on the streets of Dorset.”
