Man jailed after serious assault
A man has been jailed for 18 months following an investigation by detectives into a serious assault in Upton.
37 year-old Steven Wenzel of Upton, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 1 August 2025.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, including multiple skull fractures and blood clots on the blain.
He was convicted for inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
Detective Constable Fiona Napier, of Dorset Police, said: “This was a nasty assault committed by Steven Wenzel, who then fled the scene in efforts to evade our officers.
“We responded swiftly to attend the scene and launched a full investigation into the circumstances. I am pleased that we were able to apprehend Wenzel and ensure he faced justice for his actions.
“There is no excuse for Wenzel’s violent actions which left the victim with significant brain injuries and the courts have reflected the severity of this offence with a prison sentence. I would like to thank the victim and his family for their support throughout the investigation.”
