Man in court following Mosterton collision

All three pedestrians were taken to hospital by air ambulance. Sadly, a woman in her 40s died in hospital the following day.

A man has been charged following a fatal road traffic collision near Beaminster.

Dorset Police were called at 8.13pm on Wednesday 8 February following a collision in A3066 Main Road in Mosterton, involving a blue Mercedes and three pedestrians.

All three pedestrians were taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment. Sadly, a woman aged in her 40s died in hospital the following day.

A woman aged in her 20s remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A third pedestrian – a young boy – sustained serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

A 40-year-old man from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of driving offences before being taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Following enquiries by the traffic unit, he has subsequently been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, causing death by driving a vehicle while uninsured, causing death by driving a vehicle while unlicensed, aggravated vehicle taking and making threats to kill.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 14 February).
