Man grabs 12 year old girl's arm and scooter in Weymouth
Luckily, the victim managed to get away unharmed
A 12 year old girl in Weymouth has been grabbed on the arm by a man, and her scooter taken hold of, during an incident that's being investigated by Dorset Police.
We're told this happened at around 7.40pm on Wednesday (29th June) on Chickerell Road, near to East Street.
The girl managed to run away unharmed.
DESCRIPTION
Police have given us a description of a man thought to be involved - he's said to be:
- Aged in his 20s
- Around 5 feet 7 tall
- Medium build
- Wearing a black hooded top
- Blue jeans
- Black gloves
There's now an appeal for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
Detective Inspector Dave Horn, of Weymouth CID, said:
“At this time we cannot say for certain what this man’s motives were, however, we fully appreciate reports of this nature are likely to cause concern for the local community.
“This incident is the subject of a full investigation by detectives and local officers, and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please come forward.
“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle, or any residents with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, to please check their footage for anything of relevance."
EXTRA PATROLS LOCALLY
Following the incident, Dorset Police say they'll be carrying out additional patrols as a reassurance to local residents:
“There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity as we carry out enquiries and local officers will also be conducting additional patrols for community reassurance. Officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.
“We are continuing to update the victim and her family with the progress of our investigation and are doing all we can to support them.”
