Man found dead after flat fire in Dorset

An investigation's been launched after a man was found dead after a flat fire in Dorset.

Four crews were called to the property in John Shoobridge Court in Bleke Street in Shaftesbury at around 11.50pm on Sunday night. (10 January)

Firefighters found a man in the flat had died.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue said:

“An investigation is ongoing with Dorset Police to establish what happened, although the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be sent to the coroner.”

A spokesman for Dorset Police told Greatest Hits Radio:

“Officers attended and it was reported that the fire had been extinguished and one man had sadly died.

“The coroner has been notified and enquiries are ongoing to confirm the identity of the man and inform his next of kin.

“The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.”
